MYP Certificate Pathway

The IB MYP Certificate is an internationally recognized credential available to Grade 10 students who choose to complete the optional assessment pathway.

Students pursuing the certificate complete:

  • Six IB eAssessments
  • One ePortfolio
  • The Interdisciplinary Assessment
  • The Personal Project
  • Service as Action requirements

The MYP Certificate demonstrates academic achievement, perseverance, and readiness for the IB Diploma Programme while strengthening college and scholarship applications.

MYP eAssessments

IB eAssessments provide an internationally benchmarked measure of student achievement at the end of the MYP.

Students complete assessments in:

  • Mathematics
  • Language & Literature
  • Language Acquisition
  • Sciences
  • Individuals & Societies
  • Interdisciplinary Learning

Students also complete an electronic portfolio in Arts or Design, depending on their selected pathway.

Successful completion leads to the award of the internationally recognized IB MYP Certificate.

What are the benefits of MYP Certificate?

  • IB-validated, internationally recognized
  • Available to select Grade 10 students at Aspen High School
  • Builds academic skills, independence, and confidence through a rigorous learning experience
  • Provides strong preparation for the IB Diploma Programme
  • Can strengthen college applications

What does the process require?

  • Complete the MYP Personal Project
  • Complete a Portfolio Project in Art, Music, Design
  • Complete six IB eAssessments: Mathematics, Language & Literature, Science, Humanities, Language Acquisition, and Interdisciplinary Studies
  • Complete Service as Action: minimum of 10 service hours per year in Grades 9–10 with reflection
  • Enroll in an MYP Portfolio Class during Semester 2 of Grade 10

How can students prepare?

  • Do their best in all classes, seek teacher feedback, and set goals for improvement
  • Invest time and effort into the MYP Personal Project
  • Use MYP criteria rubrics and command terms to guide their work
  • Explore available resources by contacting the MYP Coordinator and/or subject teachers

Timeline and Costs

Registration Deadlines:

  • Early Registration: October 10
  • Late Registration: January 15
  • Fall Retake Deadline: August 26

Registration Fees

  • Six eAssessments + one portfolio: approximately $553
  • Late registration fees, as applicable

eAssessment Schedule

  • Exams are typically held in May
  • Each assessment is approximately 2 hours, and students coordinate missed classwork with teachers
