The MYP at Aspen School District
MYP

Aspen School District is proud to offer the IB Middle Years Programme as a six-year continuum for students in Grades 5–10.

Students begin the programme in Aspen Middle School (Grades 5–8) and continue into Aspen High School (Grades 9–10) before transitioning into the IB Diploma Programme.

Our MYP emphasizes:

  • Inquiry-based learning
  • Conceptual understanding
  • Student agency and voice
  • Interdisciplinary learning
  • International-mindedness
  • Service to the community

By Grade 10, students have developed the academic, social, and personal skills needed for success in advanced coursework and beyond.

Philosophy of the IB Middle Years Programme

The Aspen School District is committed to providing every student with an engaging, challenging, and inclusive educational experience. Through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP), students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.

The MYP encourages students to think critically, communicate effectively, make meaningful connections across disciplines, and apply their learning to authentic, real-world situations. At Aspen School District, we believe that every learner can succeed when provided with rigorous expectations, caring relationships, and opportunities for inquiry and reflection.
