How does ASD decide delayed starts and snow days?
Wondering how the decision is made to call a 2-hour delayed start or a snow day?
Here are the details: The Superintendent and Transportation Director work together to decide how it will affect the school day. The safety of students and staff is paramount. One of the following decisions (see below) about a delay or a snow day will be made by 5:30 a.m. the day of or, in the case of existing conditions, the night before. Notifications to the community will be sent as soon as possible following the decision. The notifications will be shared in all of the following ways: * website (aspenk12.net)

If you need to update or are not sure if your contact information is correct, please reach out to Communications@aspenk12.net. Our priority is that students and staff arrive safely to school and work. If a parent wants to keep their child or children home due to the weather, they always have that option. Tardies due to inclement weather will be excused.
One of the following messages will be delivered on all of the platforms listed above the night before or the morning of:
Delays because of weather
School will start as normal today [Date]. We are aware that road conditions may cause delays in arriving at school on time. Buses may arrive late to bus stops this morning but will be on their way. Be safe out there!
2-Hour Delayed Start
Today, [Date], the Aspen School District will have a two-hour morning delay due to the inclement weather and road conditions. Aspen Elementary will start at 10 a.m., and the Middle and High schools will start at 10:45 a.m. Bus stop times will be pushed back by two hours from the normally scheduled time. School schedules will resume at 10:00 and 10:45 am, respectively. Be safe out there!
Snow Day (Closure)Today, [Date], is a snow day for all students and staff at Aspen School District. Be safe out there!
